Patriots Quarterback Drake Maye has led the Patriots to a magical 14-3 record. Following the team’s Wildcard round win against the Chargers, the team is now set to face the Texans in the Divisional round.

The Texans themselves have just come off a playoff win against the Steelers. The Texans’ defense, which was the top-ranked defense in the league, had two defensive touchdowns in their 30-6 win. However, the Texans have never won a Divisional round game in their history, and are looking to change that on Sunday.

Maye has had himself quite the season. He was fourth in the league with 4,395 passing yards, third with 31 touchdowns, and is second in MVP odds. He has completely transformed the offense that finished second to last in total offense in 2024. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs has benefited the most from Maye, finishing with 1,013 yards following a torn ACL in 2024.

The Patriots offense as a whole has been unstoppable. The averages the second most points per game with 28.8, and has scored the third most touchdowns this season with 58. They rank top six in both passing yards and rushing yards per game. They also don’t turn the ball over, averaging under one turnover per game.

With that being said, the Patriots will have to face a scary Texans defense. They only allowed 17.4 points per game all season, and are great at forcing turnovers, averaging 1.7 per game. They also finished the season has the best defense in total yards.

The Texans defense proved this against the Steelers. The defense scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, as well as forced six sacks and only allowed 211 yards.

It will be a battle of which team slows down first. The Texans have won 10 straight games, and the Patriots have won 14 of the last 15 games. With a win, the Texans will advance to their first ever AFC Championship. For the Patriots, it would be their first appearance since 2018.
