In March of 1998, the Chicago Bulls rolled into New York to play the Knicks. This was the last time the Bulls would play the Knicks in New York.
With this being possibly Michael Jordan’s last season in the NBA, this was billed as Jordan’s last game in Madison Square Garden.
In honor of the moment, Jordan decided to wear his original Air Jordans one last time.
“It’s been a long time since I wore them,” Jordan said. “It’s funny coming back and playing and remembering some of the old days and some of the games I had here, and the shoes are a part of that. But, my feet are killing me.
“I came in to play hard, and every time I came here, it’s fun. You want to play hard and I always have a challenge with the Knicks. I come in with the same focus, and today is no different,” Jordan said.
Jordan dominated the game, scoring 42 points while recording eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals. The Bulls won 102-89.
