The Golden State Warriors had a dominant first half in Game 1 vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves. They led 44-31 behind Stephen Curry’s 13 points on 5-9 shooting.

Despite this great half of play, tragic news stuck in the second quarter. Curry, while playing defense, reached for his left leg.

Curry was diagnosed with a left hamstring injury and was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

In the second half, even with losing Curry to injury, it didn’t faze the Warriors. Golden State came together as a team and continued their beatdown on the Timberwolves.

Golden State outscored Minnesota 36-29 in the third quarter, including leading by 23 at one point. The Timberwolves made a run in the fourth, as they tried to get back into the game, but ultimately fell short.

The Warriors took Game 1 99-88. With Curry going out with an injury, it was Buddy Hield who stepped up with 24 points and Jimmy Butler who scored 20 while collecting 11 rebounds and eight assists.

As for the Timberwolves, their star, Anthony Edwards, scored 23 points, but shot just 9-22 from the field. With Game 2 being this Thursday at 8:30 PM EST, Edwards will hope to regain his shooting touch.

For the Warriors, they’ll be hoping Curry’s injury isn’t that bad and that he can return to the floor. They’ll need him if they want to win this series.
