Oklahoma City fans are fantasizing over something it has wanted since its franchise moved from Seattle, Wash.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has led the most exciting team in the National Basketball Association to the best record (64-12) in the league and has himself in front of the Most Valuable Player race. The Thunder have a chance of capturing an NBA Championship with its best player at 26 years old and averaging 32.9 points per game. OKC has arguably the youngest team in the league, but everyone plays well together. Seven players are averaging double figures in scoring; however, will it be enough for the Thunder to bring home the Larry O’Brien trophy? A former NBA player does not feel like this is the year for Oklahoma City to win it all.

Marcus Morris, a former first-round pick of the 2011 NBA Draft, played 13 seasons as a power forward with eight different programs. He started his career with the Houston Rockets and ended in 2024 with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The former Kansas basketball standard said the Thunder are ‘not deep enough’ to win an NBA title right now.

“It is not,” Morris said on ESPN’s Get Up on if OKC is his pick to win an NBA title.
“You have to talk about depth, you have to talk about guys who have actually been there in the lights. It is way different. This team has been healthy all season. They have a young guy they have poured into as the MVP of the league, but what happens when he is double teamed? Who is the second guy? Who is the third guy? Who is the guy they can go to with experience when it gets rough? They have been playing really well this year. There have not been a lot of downs, but what happens when that happens?”
OKC will be the second-youngest team to enter the NBA playoffs as a No. 1 seed.
SGA looks to turn youth into a force to be reckoned with in the postseason.
