Reports surfaced recently that Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving’s Nike shoe deal would not be renewed. Upon word of hearing this news, LaVar Ball called for Irving to join his team.
During an interview with Youtuber, Ball Facts, LaVar stated, “Kyrie! Stop crying to them folks…come on over here to Big Baller Brand, you can have all the control you want!”
Interestingly enough, Irving and LaVar have a lot in common. In 2020, during the bubble portion of the season, Irving reportedly told players they should seek to form their own league. Just four years ago, LaVar did the unthinkable and created the first league of its kind in the JBA League.
LaVar went on to say this about the deal he would propose to Irving, “I ain’t gonna give you an endorsement deal, I’m going to give you an ownership deal.”
During Big Baller Brand’s introduction into the sports landscape, ownership was at the forefront of LaVar’s message, and he is using this as a means to attract potential players who would like to partner with his brand.
