A new move has been made in the front office of the New Orleans Pelicans.

After getting eliminated from playoff contention, New Orleans has pulled the plug on David Griffin — firing him from its executive vice president of basketball operations office after six seasons.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the news as the Pelicans will have someone knew in that department. Griffin was responsible for having New Orleans use the No. 1 overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft on Zion Williamson out of Duke.

Williamson is an incredible talent; however, he has had injury and weight issues.

The franchise is waiting to get a full season out of him.

Griffin was an executive for the Cleveland Cavaliers on its 2016 team that overcame a 3-1 NBA Finals series deficit against Golden State to win a championship. New Orleans made the NBA playoffs in two of six seasons with Griffin as an executive.
