Missouri Tigers runningback Ahmad Hardy is now in stable condition after sustaining a gunshot wound at a concert in Mississippi on Sunday, the school announced.

Ahmad reportedly had surgery and his timeline for a return to football is currently unclear. No additional details about the shooting were released.

“Ahmad is deeply loved by his teammates, coaches, friends, family and fans,” the school’s statement said. “We will continue to stand beside him and his family through this difficult time, offering our love, prayers, strength and support.”

The 20-year-old had a breakout sophomore season for Missouri in 2025, leading the SEC in rushing yards with 1,649 while also rushing for 16 touchdowns.

Coming into 2026, Hardy was touted as an early-round 2027 draft prospect.

Fortunately, he’s now alert and moving around, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. There’s reportedly optimism that Hardy can make a return to football, although it’s unclear how much time he’ll miss.
