LiAngelo Ball can carve out NBA role like Bucks’ Pat Connaughton

Posted on

LiAngelo Ball just recently completed his first season in the NBA’s G-League. After a tumultuous road to this point, the middle Ball brother finally got his shot with the Charlotte Hornets G-League affiliate, Greensboro Swarm.

His first year stats were nothing to write home about averaging 4.6 PPG, 1.1 RPG, 0.3 APG, and shooting 40 percent from the field (36.1 3PT). He averaged just over 13 minutes per game, which is a very small sample size for a player looking to audition for a spot on the biggest basketball stage in the world.

Watching the current NBA playoffs, one particular player is providing a blueprint for LiAngelo, and that is Milwaukee Bucks guard, Pat Connaughton. Connaughton has been in the NBA for 7 years, and he has carved a niche for being a hardnosed defender and now a trusted big shot taker — and maker.

He gets timely rebounds, guards the toughest wing players, and is reliable enough on offense to help stretch the floor for two-time MVP, Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Currently, LiAngelo is training for a potential summer league run to showcase his talents for all teams to see, and make another run with the Swarm in hopes of reuniting with his brother on an NBA floor.
